Hormone Balance

Science has shown us that hormones can easily become imbalanced by multiple factors, including chronic stress, poor sleep quality, nutrient deficiencies, infection, inflammatory states, and from toxins that build up in our bodies. When hormones are disrupted, chaos ensues, driving cells toward dysfunction that may result in chronic disease, such as diabetes, elevated cholesterol, heart disease, or cancer.

THE POWER OF HORMONES

Sometimes, we develop symptoms that may warn us that something is wrong. For example, evidence-based research tells us that chronic stress impacts many body systems including thyroid and adrenal glands, resulting in symptoms such as depression, anxiety, fatigue, headaches, memory loss, poor concentration, sugar cravings, weight gain, sleep disturbances, night sweats, and GI symptoms. Long periods of stress also disrupt female hormones which become imbalanced, producing similar symptoms as well as uncomfortable hot flashes, vaginal dryness, bladder issues, infertility, and low libido. Fortunately, the vast majority of these symptoms can be addressed and hormones rebalanced with lifestyle changes, stress management, meditation, and a healthy diet. As appropriate, and in careful discussion with each individual, Dr. Sandra may also recommend Bio-identical hormone support.
