Preventative Health Care
According to the American Diabetes Association,
1 in 3 American adults have prediabetes and 9 out of 10 of them don't know they have it. Prediabetes is the perfect storm of two factors: Insulin resistance (when tissues don't properly respond to insulin) and decreased insulin production. This combination results in chronically elevated blood glucose levels which put patients at risk for diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, stroke, and a weakened immune system. Prevention means knowing what's happening inside your body, and why, even if you have no symptoms. Dr. Fleming's approach to Preventative Health is to identify any risk factors in lifestyle or genetics, hidden pathogens, inflammation, micronutrient deficiencies, increased intestinal permeability (leaky gut), detoxification abnormalities, and neuroendocrine dysfunction. Dr. Fleming wants to spend quality time with her patients, forming a partnership and learning about their personal health goals to help them achieve long-term sustainable health.
