A Carotid Intima-Media Thickness Test (CIMT) is a noninvasive ultrasound used to diagnose the extent of carotid atherosclerotic vascular disease which puts you at risk for dementia, heart disease, and stroke. Many patients do not have symptoms but have notable thickening in their arterial walls. By detecting this abnormal plaque build-up early, we can manage the risk factors aggressively while implementing a personalized wellness plan before disease sets in.
